Throwback Thursday: Differences Between Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimization

This week’s Throwback Thursday article tackles an important issue in the online marketing world: the difference between Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimization. While you may sometimes hear the terms SEM and SEO used interchangeably, they are not the same, but rather related in that SEM encompasses everything you do to help your website rank highly, while SEO is used to describe the use of keywords, website design, and linking in order to help boost a site to the top of a search engine.
